The Problem of Water Purification
Define a Problem-
Project Management Summary: We made a Gantt chart and divided responsibilities to stay organized and within our time limit since we had 5 school days to complete the project. We also divided the responsibilities for the same reason of time limits and finishing the project in time.
Brainstorming-
Ideas:
- Boiling
- Coffee filter
- Charcoal
- Sand and pebbles

Refine the Design-
After many trials while going through the design process, we found a more efficient way of filtering water comparing to our original test. We replaced many things, added many materials, and cleaned many of the materials. We added fabric and a sponge to the top of the filter to take out the big pieces of junk in the water. We also added big pebbles along with the small ones to trap any dirty substances that the sponge and fabric didn't capture. We changed many things such as the filter and cleaning out the sponge repeatedly because they had to be completely clean in order to work properly.

Conclusion/Reflection-
From this project, I learned how well different materials work with one another to complete a task and how the smallest things can make a big difference such as adding a sponge which made the turbidity change from 104 NTU to a staggering 47 NTU. Working alongside a partner really benefited me because it gave another input into what would potentially work, such as Rabbia's suggestion of using both fine & coarse sand. Next time, I would test a wider range of materials to see which one would work the best. I would also conduct more trials and bring some materials from home to use as opposed to relying on whatever was in the classroom at the time. We should have spent more time on testing and less time on brainstorming as well. All in all, I think this project was a great experience and taught me a lot of hands on things that PowerPoints can't teach and I don't have any suggestions on making it any better because it's already great.
